AI Agent Engineer (Agentic Systems) job description
Role summary
We are hiring an AI Agent Engineer to design and run autonomous, tool-using AI systems that automate real business processes. You will architect multi-agent workflows, integrate enterprise tools safely, and build the tracing, evaluation and guardrails that let agents operate with confidence. Success means measurable automation, zero unapproved actions and a full audit trail for every run.
Responsibilities
- Architect multi-agent workflows (planner, executor, critic) in LangGraph, AutoGen or CrewAI.
- Integrate tools and enterprise APIs via MCP and function calling with least-privilege access.
- Implement memory, state management, human-in-the-loop checkpoints and rollback.
- Build agent tracing, evaluation harnesses and cost and safety guardrails.
- Harden agents against prompt injection and unsafe tool execution.
- Agree automation scope, approval points and success metrics with process owners.
Requirements
- 4+ years of software engineering, including production LLM or automation systems.
- Strong Python and experience designing reliable, stateful backend workflows.
- Hands-on with LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI or the OpenAI Agents SDK.
- Enterprise API integration with OAuth, scoped credentials and audit logging.
- Evaluation and observability practice for non-deterministic systems.
- Clear grasp of agent-specific security risks and their mitigations.
Experience bands offered by Remote Pro Ai (years) Mid 4–6 · Senior 6–9 · Lead 9+
Nice-to-have
- Durable execution with Temporal or a similar workflow engine.
- Tracing and evaluation with LangSmith or Arize.
- Automation delivered in finance, IT service or customer operations.
- Familiarity with human-oversight duties under the EU AI Act or ISO/IEC 42001.
